BA, LLB, UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY

Mark is the head of Lane Neave's Immigration team and is widely recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading commercial immigration experts.  The Immigration team at Lane Neave is one of the largest immigration focused legal practices in New Zealand.

Mark has successfully represented private and corporate immigration clients in almost every type of immigration instruction related to the Immigration Act 1987, Immigration Act 2009 and Citizenship Act 1977.

Mark is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law of Victoria University Melbourne.  He is assisting the University in developing a new postgraduate qualification to train New Zealand Licensed Immigration Advisers in conjunction with other industry stakeholders and the public sector (Immigration Advisers Authority).  Prior to this Mark was a lecturer in Immigration law at the University of Canterbury Law School.

Mark was selected by the New Zealand Law Society (NZLS) as part of the team to draft submissions on the Immigration Act 2009 implemented in November 2010. He was also recently appointed to the New Zealand Immigration and Refugee Law Committee by the NZLS.

Mark is a current member of the Canterbury Employment and Skills Board. This Board was established under the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) to develop the labour market component of the economic recovery programme required for the Canterbury rebuild. Mark is also a consulted stakeholder for the CERA Investment Team tasked with developing strategy required to service institutional and high net worth private investors from offshore seeking to invest in the rebuild of the Canterbury region.

As a strong advocate for the services and skills Lane Neave provides, Mark believes his team are superior to licensed immigration advisers and other lawyers in terms of expertise, professionalism and service.
